July 14, 2025: St. Louis, MO – Krilogy®, an independent RIA headquartered in St. Louis, has announced the addition of Brian J. Fernandez, JD, CPA, to the growing team. Fernandez will serve as president of the firm, and firm founder Kent Skornia will transition to the role of CEO. Fernandez, who has over 25 years of experience working with ultra-high-net-worth families, has also been named Managing Partner of Krilogy’s Family Office practice.
“As a wealth management firm with $4 billion in assets and a team of nearly 90 wealth professionals, Krilogy® has arrived at the point in our journey where the role of president and that of CEO are best served by two leaders focused on distinct areas of the business that will propel us forward,” said Skornia. “Brian is an exceptional wealth professional with a great deal of experience both operationally and working with ultra-high-net-worth clients in a Family Office practice. He shares our values and has already proven to be an amazing member of the team. I couldn’t be more pleased to welcome him to Krilogy®.”
Skornia has been president and CEO of Krilogy® since the firm’s founding in 2009. Under his leadership, Krilogy® has not only experienced significant growth in assets and team, the firm has also added complementary services to serve clients’ holistic wealth management needs, all under one roof. This includes Krilogy Tax and Krilogy Law, as well as (K) Plans, which manages employer-sponsored retirement plans. In addition to four locations across the St. Louis region, Krilogy® has offices and a team of advisors in Dallas, Texas.
The addition of Fernandez both expands the Krilogy® leadership team and formalizes the Family Office practice which has been serving clients since the establishment of Krilogy Tax in 2017.
“I’m excited to partner with Kent and the entire leadership team as we continue to advance Krilogy® into the future,” said Fernandez. “We have a great deal of opportunity ahead as Kent focuses on our growth while executing on our vision of creating the wealth management firm of the future. My work will further facilitate growth, and my role as managing partner of Family Office will position us well to continue providing the depth of service required to manage this audience’s sophisticated needs.”
Fernandez points to the firm’s capabilities to serve Family Office clients through Krilogy Tax and Krilogy Law as a key value-add for this market. These services integrate seamlessly with Krilogy’s in-depth wealth strategy and planning process in which advisors leverage the firm’s expansive infrastructure for investing and portfolio management.
“We are entering an age that has been labeled ‘Wealth 3.0’ for ultra-high-net-worth families, where there is intentional focus and engagement beyond planning to help clients identify the purpose and mission for their wealth,” said Fernandez. “This requires deep relationships with clients, providing education to the next generations involved, and having discussions about both the possibilities and responsibilities surrounding the family’s wealth. In this context, clients are empowered to make deeper, multi-generational decisions.”
The transition to CEO expands Skornia’s capacity to develop advisors, attract additional high-level wealth management teams, and continue growing the Dallas market. “My goal has always been to create a firm that advisors want to build their businesses in, whether they are new to the industry, in the prime of their careers, or leading a mature practice,” said Skornia. “I am proud that Krilogy® has gained a reputation for being that firm and am eager to focus my work on advancing that into the future.”
